Chia Pudding

Chia Pudding made of rice milk, topped with warm raspberries, acai powder and blueberries.

Zutaten für eine Portion:

3 EL Chia Samen
200ml Flüssigkeit (Milch aller Art, Fruchtsaft, Kakao,...)

Zubereitung:

Warum sollte man Chia Samen essen?

Chia Seeds are a great source of protein for athletes and vegetarians / vegans. I use them regularly since 3 years, but currently there seems to be a "Chia-hype". Now you can find them almost  everywhere, even at a discount store. Chia seeds are tasteless and therefore can be used in many ways. I give you my basic recipe for Chia Pudding and some topping ideas, but there are no limits for your creativity.

Ingredients for one serving:

3 tablespoons of chia seeds
200ml liquid (milk of all kinds, fruit juice, cocoa, ...)

Preparation:

Mix the Chia seeds and the liquid and stir well. Put the mixture in the refrigerator and let it stand there overnight. At the beginning you should stir them form time to time.
The Chia Pudding can be stored in the fridge up to 4 days.

Why should you eat chia seeds?

Chia seeds contain a lot of protein (about twice as much as other cereals) and healthy omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. They also have about 5 times as much calcium as milk and the trace element boron (important for calcium absorption). Moreover, Chia seeds have a lot of potassium and iron. Chia seeds have a positive effect on the digestion and very long saturating. They also have a positive effect on blood sugar levels. They create a barrier between carbs and digestive enzymes, thereby recording carbs is slowed in sugar. This has the consequence that the energy of the food is released slowly in the body, leading to a longer endurance. This is good for sportsmen but also for diabetics.
